Thomson is the key supplier of leading cable operators around the world. Its products help cable operators achieve a rapid and cost-effective transition to mass deployment of digital services. The transition to digital will help cable operators grow their revenues by offering multiple services (pay-per-view, broadcast, interactivity).
Thomson’s strong presence in the broadband access arena has been largely driven by the massive deployment of cost-effective STB solutions, the introduction of the first DOCSIS-certified modem (1999) and PacketCable 1.5 certified Wireless EMTA (2006) demonstrating the company’s ability to bring competitively priced, sophisticated, digital consumer products early to market.
Thomson is currently a leading supplier of CableLabs certified DOCSIS modems worldwide, delivering to major cable companies, such as Time Warner, Comcast and UPC. To date, Thomson has shipped over 10 million DOCSIS cable modems worldwide.
In addition to its cable data competence, Thomson has for the fifth consecutive year demonstrated worldwide leadership in design, manufacturing and marketing of networked digital video decoders. Since June 1994, Thomson has shipped over 40 million digital decoders worldwide to network operators and to retailers.
