ECHO BROADBAND-AUSPICE® TLX®-BASED SOLUTION ENABLES CABLE PROVIDERS TO LAUNCH SERVICES FOR SMALL-MEDIUM BUSINESS MARKET

ECHO Demonstrates Integration of a Rich Suite of Broadband Service and OSS Solutions; Fast, Cost-Effective Deployment and Management of Cable Services

Anaheim, Calif. ― December 3, 2003 ― Today at the Western Show, ECHO Broadband, an international network engineering and technology solutions company, demonstrated its Integrated Services Manager, a solution that includes popular broadband service and operations support systems (OSS) software packages ― all integrated by Auspice's TLX Real-Time Systems Integration and Operations Automation Platform ― and ECHO professional services. The ECHO solution will enable cable service providers to rapidly deploy and efficiently manage a wide range of broadband services ― such as web hosting, email and instant messaging ― especially geared for small and medium enterprise customers.

As a proof-of-concept, ECHO today demonstrated the Integrated ServiceManager (ISM) solution using popular third party software packages integrated by the new Auspice TLX 4.0 platform.

Broadband service packages in the demonstration included:

  • Plesk Web hosting control panel software from SWSoft
  • Communicate Pro email software from Stalker Software.

OSS software packages in the demonstration included:

  • Revelation Trouble Ticketing software from Yellow Fish
  • Smallworld geographic information system software from GE.

ECHO also demonstrated how Auspice's TLX platform ― and Auspice's OpsLogic™ Broadband Solutions Suite ― provide the intelligence for automating network operations support processes for the ISM's broadband services, including:

  • Provisioning and audit
  • Device monitoring and utilization reporting
  • Event correlation, root-cause analysis and trouble ticketing
  • Interactive customer care and service visibility portals
  • Field dispatch.

For example, Auspice TLX platform and OpsLogic solutions can be used to:

  • Automate the provisioning and auditing any broadband services, such as the ISM's email and web-hosting services
  • Proactively monitor the health of the HFC plant and modems
  • Correlate network events to isolate root cause, then consolidate and populate trouble tickets to speed repair
  • Pinpoint affected subscribers by integrating scope of failure information with billing, subscriber account information and GIS mapping systems.

The ISM solution includes ECHO Broadband's professional services for designing, engineering, testing and deploying broadband services and OSS solutions. ECHO's services leverage its extensive worldwide experience in deploying service provider infrastructures.

The TLX Platform's rich and extensible library of interfaces enables ECHO's experienced team to quickly integrate and automate support processes with any commercially available, proprietary or legacy broadband service and OSS system. Optimized for operations automation, TLX's development environment enables the deployment of highly scalable OSS solutions in a fraction of the time it would take with conventional development tools. TLX-based solutions typically yield significant ROI in weeks versus months or years, as is the case with traditional methods.

"The combination of ISM's market-tested IP and OSS solutions, plus the power of Auspice's industry-leading TLX operations automation platform, takes the risk and high cost out of broadband service deployment," said Bill Fleming, President at ECHO Broadband. "Combined, our market-proven professional services and the TLX platform will enable cable providers to penetrate the small and medium enterprise markets efficiently."

"Leveraging their significant professional services experience and knowledge of third party service-delivery and OSS packages, ECHO offers a prodigious solution for cable broadband service providers," said William Yan, Auspice Executive VP of Sales and Business Development. "The rapid pace that ECHO has developed a solid proof-of-concept ― shown here at The Western Show ― also attests to TLX's rapid development environment and how quickly ECHO will be able to deploy their ISM solution for service provider environments."

About Auspice

Founded in 1997, Auspice, The Enterprise Control Company, is the first commercial developer of an enterprise control software platform that enables enterprises and service providers to manage disparate technology infrastructure in an orchestrated manner to dramatically improve operations reliability and efficiency. With its roots in the modern-day manned space program, Auspice’s TLX platform was originally developed for mission-critical and complex operational environments, such as the International Space Station (for NASA), which are characterized by heterogeneous systems that demand absolute reliability. Auspice is also the developer of the TLX-based OpsLogic Broadband Solution Suite — a set of integrated operations automation applications for broadband service providers. The OpsLogic Solution Suite was developed on and can be extended with the Auspice TLX platform to meet the specific needs of individual service providers.
