AUSPICE® UNVEILS TWO NEXT-GENERATION AUTOMATED OSS SOLUTIONS FOR BROADBAND CABLE INDUSTRY

Company Demonstrates Advanced Management and Monitoring Solutions for Tiered Broadband Services and Cable Home Access

Anaheim, Calif. ― December 3, 2003 ― Today at the Western Show, Auspice Corporation, a leading provider of real-time operations automation software, unveiled two next-generation broadband cable operations automation solutions that will enable service providers to cost-effectively manage new residential broadband services, including tiered IP-based service levels and value-added home networking remote management services.

The two solutions are the newest members of Auspice's OpsLogic™ Broadband Solutions Suite, an integrated set of operations support system (OSS) solutions used by premier cable broadband service providers. The OpsLogic Suite is based on Auspice's industry-leading TLX® Real-Time Systems Integration and Operations Automation Platform, also used by premier service providers to build automated OSS solutions to match their unique environments and business practices.

New OpsLogic Solution for Tiered IP Services

Auspice today unveiled the OpsLogic Cable Modem Utilization Monitor, which gives service providers a powerful new tool for:

  • Enabling subscriber-level IP service consumption monitoring for market analysis and tiered service creation
  • Threshold monitoring for upselling service-level upgrades
  • Accurate network resource capacity planning.

The Utilization Monitor performs:

  • High-rate consumption per-modem polling for any IP-based, CMTS-attached service
  • High-rate statistics calculation and threshold monitoring
  • Comprehensive consumption plotting and reporting.

"This will be an important revenue-generating as well as cost-avoidance tool for MSOs," noted William Yan, Auspice's Executive VP of Sales and Business Development. "Packed with advanced utilization threshold features, it has the ability to create on-demand reports by market, submarket or individual CMTS ― even by CMTS multiservice card or individual subscriber ― at selectable units of time or date."

New OpsLogic Solution for Home Networking

Auspice also demonstrated today its new OpsLogic Service Visibility Portal (SVP) for Home Access service management. The new solution is an extension to Auspice's market-proven OpsLogic Service Visibility Portal, a solution used by major service providers' customer care representatives to solve customer-reported broadband service problems "on the spot."

The Home Access (HA) extension to the OpsLogic SVP solution enables:

  • Remote assistance to troubleshoot and reconfigure an HA device/gateway if a subscriber cannot configure it or misconfigures it
  • Value-added HA management services, such as gateway-connected device management.

The SVP for Home Access solution is designed for compliance with CableLabs' CableHome specification and is extensible for supporting home networking equipment vendors' proprietary specifications and cable providers' unique, nonstandard requirements.

The solution enables remote management of:

  • Network-connected devices
  • Firewalls
  • Parental controls
  • Wireless functions.

"Using the powerful feature of TLX, we can integrate and deploy the Home Access manager with any broadband provider's environment in weeks," noted Yan. "Not only is it built to comply with CableLabs' CableHome specs, but it is easily extended to handle any vendor's home gateway equipment or any provider's unique business and operations practices."
