RIVERDELTA NETWORKS AND AUSPICE PARTNER TO PROVIDE CABLE OPERATORS WITH A PROACTIVE NETWORK MONITORING & MANAGEMENT SYSTEM

Improved Service Delivery with Intelligent Network Analysis and Integrated Management System

Tewksbury, MA — November 29, 2000 — RiverDelta Networks, Inc.

RiverDelta Networks, Inc., the leader in carrier-class broadband routing, switching, and service management systems, and Auspice, Inc., a leading provider of network and web operation management systems, today announced a partnership to provide cable network operators with an intelligent network analysis and integrated management system designed to increase service delivery uptime.

Interoperability between RiverDelta Networks' Broadband Services Routers™ (BSR) and Auspice OpsLogic® Intelligent DOCSIS Cable Modem Exception (CMEx) solution provides network operators with the ability to unify, interpret, and analyze, simultaneous data flows from multiple, disparate applications, devices and databases - all in real time. This unified approach enables the delivery of new network service levels by integrating network system knowledge with continually changing subscriber selections. The joint system will deliver:

  • Proactive monitoring of cable modems and RiverDelta Networks' Data Over Cable Service Interface Specification (DOCSIS)-compliant Cable Modem Termination Systems (CMTS) via Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP)
  • Automatic monitoring of end-users Service Level Agreements (SLAs),
  • Automatic service condition detection and reporting
  • Automated & on-demand system reporting via email and the web
  • Integrated, real-time customer database and cable modem status reporting

"Auspice and RiverDelta Networks have come together to bring dynamic, carrier-class network management and analysis capabilities to the cable network," said Dave Callan, President, CEO and Founder, RiverDelta Networks. "For the first time, cable networks will benefit from a comprehensive, real-time monitoring system that will enable them to anticipate and take corrective action before a network outage occurs. Subscribers should see fewer service interruptions and this can only increase their satisfaction with their cable network operators."

Increasing Service Uptime Through Integration and Proactive, Intelligent Analysis

With an innovative, proactive approach to cable network analysis and management, operators will increase service uptime. By integrating the management of daily network service operations and the automatic correlation and qualification of intelligent network analysis, network operators will improve service availability for enterprise and residential customers.

The RiverDelta Networks Broadband Services Router product family is based on SmartFlow™ Quality of Service (QoS) technology, which gives broadband carriers the unprecedented ability to manage and meter unique IP service flows at multiple levels, including on a per-application, per-subscriber, per-system and per-service provider basis. SmartFlow together with Auspice's CMEx application enables proactive reporting on service level agreements. Cable operators can open up their networks and allow multiple providers to deliver services independently. In addition, service providers are able to offer multiple levels of service and meter usage for a wide variety of content and applications.

Auspice's OpsLogic Intelligent DOCSIS CMEx solution offers automated, periodic reporting, with on-demand reporting on the status of the CMTS and cable modems. This intelligent control solution utilizes both DOCSIS and customizable failure and warning thresholds. CMEx intelligently monitors and analyzes modem data via SNMP-based objects by collecting the data from the cable modem through the CMTS as well as directly from the cable modem. The CMEx generates real-time HTML reports on all DOCSIS compliant cable modems.

"RiverDelta and Auspice bring a common vision and commitment to providing proactive service management of high-availability, multi-service networks," said Rick Berthold, CTO of Auspice, Inc. "Together we offer the network provider a significant performance and reliability advantage for the management of broadband-based services."
